Fighting Helmet Causing Dandruff with Head & Shoulders

This is story is brought to you by Vocalpoint and Head & Shoulders. All opinions are 100% my own.

Did you know that wearing helmets and hats can actually cause dandruff?

Jagger wearing catcher's helmet for baseball

Not only is it popular for teens to wear ball caps almost daily, my son also wears a helmet during baseball.  He plays year round so wearing his catcher’s gear with helmet all weekend long plus another helmet when batting, puts his head at risk for dandruff.  Especially here in Texas, the summer gets over 100 degrees outside and your scalp can dry out quick.

My boys love the partnership between Head & Shoulders and Old Spice.  Now the shampoo that is made to fight dandruff smells amazing.  They already use Old Spice deodorant and body wash.  By having Head & Shoulders include some of that Old Spice scent, it makes keeping their head dandruff free less embarrassing.

D Free Kit

We had a little fun playing with our D-Free Defense kit that came in the mail.  The helmet provided us with some entertainment while we practiced our game faces.  Although we shared a few laughs together as a family, we also discussed the real issue of dandruff and how to protect our heads.

Tips to Avoid Dandruff

  • Avoid direct sunlight to your scalp for long periods of time – this can cause sun burn, dry scalp and peeling
  • Keep your helmet clean and avoid wearing it when you are not playing
  • Make sure your helmet fits correctly and is not too tight
  • Although ball caps are fashionable and popular, plus easy to wear – try to let your head/scalp rest from the friction of always having one on by taking a few days off each week.  Teen girls like teen boys with cute hair!
  • Use Head & Shoulders daily
