Did you know that wearing helmets and hats can actually cause dandruff?
Not only is it popular for teens to wear ball caps almost daily, my son also wears a helmet during baseball. He plays year round so wearing his catcher’s gear with helmet all weekend long plus another helmet when batting, puts his head at risk for dandruff. Especially here in Texas, the summer gets over 100 degrees outside and your scalp can dry out quick.

Tips to Avoid Dandruff
- Avoid direct sunlight to your scalp for long periods of time – this can cause sun burn, dry scalp and peeling
- Keep your helmet clean and avoid wearing it when you are not playing
- Make sure your helmet fits correctly and is not too tight
- Although ball caps are fashionable and popular, plus easy to wear – try to let your head/scalp rest from the friction of always having one on by taking a few days off each week. Teen girls like teen boys with cute hair!
