I love having family portraits made. So often we get busy with life that we forget to take a moment and document the memories. This year our oldest is away in the Army so we decided to do things a little differently for the holidays. Instead of a family photo that was incomplete, we let our son get his Christmas photos with Portrait Innovations to use as gifts for his extended family.
The kids grow so quickly. Seeing my 19-year-old now compared to her baby photos is surreal. Our family tries hard to get family photos made each year, but I must admit we have missed a few times.
Christmas Photos with Portrait Innovations
Since we have a blended family, my son has the luxury of having a much larger family than some. Noah has not had professional photos made by himself since he was one, minus those awkward school photos. So this was a treat for him. It was kind of exciting for me to see the process, without the stress of being behind the camera.
Portrait Innovations did such an amazing job posing him and getting him to smile. He has this weird way of smiling when he is put on the spot, like he has forgotten how! Maybe after smiling for several minutes he started to doubt himself. Thankfully, the photographer was able to get him laughing and relaxed quickly.
After taking photos in two different photography studios with multiple backgrounds and photo props, it was time to view the images. I love that we were able to see them right away! That is the most daunting part of having a private photographer take photos off-location. You are always waiting days to see if they captured anything you like.
At Portrait Innovations we were able to quickly browse through 75 photos and pick our favorites. We viewed three photos at a time so it was easy to pick between them. If I absolutely disliked a pose, facial expression or lighting, the photographer immediately removed it from our gallery. Easy, peasy…
Their photography packages were pretty amazing, as well. Ordering photos and receiving the prints took less than an hour. We left while they printed our photos and went to eat dinner at a quick restaurant within the same parking lot. Before we were done eating I received the call the photos were ready.
We received two sheets of photos in six different poses. The sheets consisted of the sizes we preferred, varying from 4×6, 5×7, 8×10 and many others. However, my son was most excited about his Christmas photo greeting cards. They were even personalized with his name on them and he picked out the design all by himself! He started handing out some of his photo cards at Thanksgiving and already addressed some to his teachers for mid-December.
Aren’t the photos just amazing?
Portrait Innovations has a smartphone app that you can share all of your images with friends and family. I was able to instantly save some of the images to my iPhone and even shared some directly to social media.
The creative images were my favorite. This photo that features two poses in one image is amazing. I instantly framed it for my living room. The most difficult part of it all was deciding which images I liked best. They were all so good!
